Propagandists Sell "Vigilante" Solution for Syria

Bypassing the UN to "end violence" of its own creation, West plumbs new depths of own depravity.
by Tony Cartalucci

June 29, 2012 - Ned Dobos of Australia's University of New South Wales, has given a presentation, served up in the form of an op-ed in the Sydney Morning Herald titled, "Syria needs a vigilante to save its people," that can only be described as a new benchmark in Western duplicity. Cued up by the forces of Western imperialism, Dobos plugs in every keyword and talking point flowing through the halls of the very corporate-funded think tanks that have engineered the blood-soaked destabilization in Syria in the first place.

Sidestepping entirely the history of the current conflict, both in Syria, and in a broader regional context, as well as inconvenient facts regarding the driving factors behind the violence Dobos seeks to end with his proposal, he maintains that there is a "moral imperative" for nations to act outside of the "paralyzed" United Nations.

Dobos conducts a rambling pedantic philosophical defense of what is essentially a unilateral act of war built on patently false pretenses, as NATO has already done in Libya, and as the US has done in Iraq and Afghanistan at the cost of millions of innocent lives.

Dobos concludes by stating:

"Champions of the UN often fail to see or acknowledge that the obligations of a state's international commitments are equally prima facie, and that in some cases a perfectly good justification for their transgression will be available.

Syria is one of those cases. The global body entrusted with the task of preventing human rights abuses is, once again, paralysed by politics. For any state that is able and willing to act unilaterally, the imperative to defend people against murder, torture and rape trumps fidelity to international covenant. A vigilante that defends the innocent when the police can't or won't is not a villain, he is a hero." - "Syria needs a vigilante to save its people" Ned Dobos, SMH.
The Truth Drowns Western & Dobos' Flights of R2P Fancy

Unfortunately for Dobos and his ivory tower academia, the truth about the violence in Syria not only mires his proposal in the unpleasantries of reality, it drowns it. The "murder, torture, and rape" Dobos claims unilateral military intervention will stop, was in fact premeditated, planned, staged, funded, and the forces carrying it out entirely armed by the West in an effort not for "preventing human rights abuses," but to admittedly overthrow the government of Syria and install a compliant, pro-Western client regime, as the West has done in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and is attempting to do elsewhere from Northern Africa to Southeast Asia and beyond.

Since the early 1990's, US Army General Wesley Clark was aware of a plan drawn up by the forces of corporate-financier special interests to overthrow the "old client regimes" of the Soviet Union. General Clark would again be made aware of plans post-9/11 to invade and overthrow the governments of seven specific nations, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya Somalia, Sudan, and Iran. General Clark would later present this information at the Commonwealth Club of California, October 3, 2007.

It was also in 2007 that Seymour Hersh of the New Yorker would publish a lengthy report titled "The Redirection" regarding US, Israeli, and Saudi plans to destabilize Lebanon, Syria, and Iran using sectarian extremists with direct ties to Al Qaeda with the foreknowledge they would wreak terrible havoc, committing horrific atrocities as they carried out the West's proxy war. Upon reading Hersh's report and viewing the events unfolding today, the West's plan has clearly been executed with a fair degree of exactitude and precision, obfuscated only by the West's impressive dissembling enabled by their immense corporate media networks.

The Arab Spring was also being engineered in this period, years before it would actually unfold, with the US training "activists" in the US, providing them with equipment, funding, and directives in the lead up to one of the largest, if not the largest coordinated political destabilization in human history. Regarding Syria specifically, the US State Department would admit that it did indeed train and fund "activists" abroad with the explicit intent of sowing chaos once they returned to Syria.

In an April 2011 AFP report, Michael Posner, the assistant US Secretary of State for Human Rights and Labor, admitted that the "US government has budgeted $50 million in the last two years to develop new technologies to help activists protect themselves from arrest and prosecution by authoritarian governments." The report went on to admit that the US (emphasis added) "organized training sessions for 5,000 activists in different parts of the world. A session held in the Middle East about six weeks ago gathered activists from Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon who returned to their countries with the aim of training their colleagues there." Posner would add, "They went back and there's a ripple effect."

With the CIA, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and even elements in Lebanon now openly admitting they are funding, arming, and otherwise enabling terrorists operating in and around Syrian territory - and with these terrorists accused by even the West's own "institutions" and "international arbiters" of carrying out systematic atrocities of their own, including kidnapping, torture, and murder, Dobos' narrative is exposed further as absolute, baseless, politically-motivated propaganda unmoored by even what is admitted in headline news.

With Libya serving as the ultimate example of just how disingenuous the West is regarding "responsibility to protect" (R2P), a political ploy contrived by modern neo-imperialists to mask naked military conquest, promoting a similar campaign in Syria is admittedly a hard, if not impossible sell. Libya's "freedom fighters" have turned out to be sectarian terrorists now carrying out a brutal campaign of nationwide torture, harassment, illegal imprisonments, and genocide. Entire towns have been wiped out with ethnic and religious minorities fleeing the country for their survival. Even the handpicked proxies installed by NATO have been subjected to the violence, threats, and general chaos that has predictably prevailed in Libya.

In fact the only success story that can be told coming out of Libya, is its emergence as a military logistical hub serving similar NATO destabilizations across Northern Africa and across the Middle East. With an entire nation serving as a safe haven for terrorism, a nearly endless supply of weapons and fighters can be propagated to multiple theaters of conflict. Ironically enough, eastern Libya (Benghazi, the epicenter of 2011's destabilization) had served as a terrorist recruiting center for fueling sectarian violence in Iraq that effectively neutralized a joint Sunni-Shi'ia insurrection against Western occupation.

Selling Unilateral Military Conquest - a Crime Against World Peace

Wittingly or unwittingly, Dobos has committed a crime against world peace by promoting crass, unfounded, irresponsible propaganda aimed solely at defending not only the continuation of violence in Syria, but also by attempting to prepare the ground for a larger act of overt military aggression, which he himself admits violates international law - a Nuremberg offense.

Dobos and the corporate-funded policy makers he parrots almost certainly do not believe the rhetoric they are promoting - as even the most elementary research into the topic exposes immediate and significant flaws in the premise of "unilateral intervention" based on a "moral imperative" to alleviate violence of the West's own premeditated creation.

Dobos has also played a role in destroying the credibility of not only his own university of New South Wales, but the reputation and credibility of Western academia in general, which has now become an easily purchased stamp of approval to lend credence and employ an "academic" defense to the otherwise indefensible. Australian academia in particular has been almost entirely infiltrated and co-opted by the forces of Western special interests, in particular by the Lowy Institute.

For the very real principles and ideals the West once stood for, we must expose and denounce entirely the hackery of "academics" like "Dr." Dobos, protest the recognition of his credentials, and give pause for thought to those employing him and allowing him to continuously abuse the good name of their educational institutions for transparently self-serving political agendas. Failing to do this will only accelerate the fall of the West's institutions, and once credibility has been lost, it will be difficult if not impossible to ever regain it.

Suggesting that the West should unilaterally intervene in Syria, without a UN mandate has been on corporate-financier funded policy makers' wishlist for months. Neo-Conservative led corporate funded think tank (beginning on page 18, .pdf), the Henry Jackson Society, has openly declared NATO's plans to do just that. Of course, to do so, it must be thoroughly justified in the court of public opinion - a court Dobos just so happens to have testify before with his pedantic, fact-devoid, intelligence-insulting diatribe.

With Libya and Iraq as two very prominent examples of how the West couches military conquest within "humanitarian" pretexts still fresh in the public's mind, it will take much more than an obscure ethics PhD from Australia parroting corporate-funded talking points to convince the world that it is necessary, let alone justified to expand upon these grievous crimes against humanity and suffer another blight upon our collective conscience.

Repost: Turkey Seeking "Buffer Zone" for NATO Death Squads

NATO Member Turkey Harboring Terrorist Army

Warns Syria about defending its own borders - brazen act of war, crime against world peace ignored by feckless United Nations.
by Tony Cartalucci

June 29, 2012 - After losing a fighter jet earlier this month while conducting a high-speed, low altitude invasion of Syria's airspace, Turkey has now pledged to treat any Syrian operation along its borders as a military threat.

"Turkey's warning could tilt the dynamic along the border, which has become an incubator for Syrian antigovernment rebels who are seeking increased levels of international support. Turkey's pledge to respond to aggression from Syrian forces could help the rebel Free Syrian Army by deterring Syrian forces from attacking—or else result in Turkish retaliation for cross-border attacks on rebels," reported the Wall Street Journal in their article, "Turkey Warns of Retaliation Against Syria." This encapsulates the brazen warping of logic applied by NATO aggressors as they seek to perpetuate the bloodbath and destabilization caused by their own proxy forces, primarily harbored, armed, and deployed from NATO member Turkey.

Syrian Rebels are Al Qaeda Terrorists

By US officials' own admissions, since 2007 a combined US-Israeli-Saudi effort to assemble and deploy against Syria and Iran an army of sectarian extremists drawn from the ranks of Al Qaeda and its affiliates has been underway. In Seymour Hersh's 2007 New Yorker article, "The Redirection," he reported, "The U.S. has also taken part in clandestine operations aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has been the bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam and are hostile to America and sympathetic to Al Qaeda."

Within Hersh's report, not only is this army of fanatical terrorists described as being fully backed by the West in order to create a sectarian bloodbath to be used to achieve Western foreign policy objectives, but it was fully anticipated that this army would commit abhorrent atrocities, particularly against ethnic and religious minorities throughout the region. In particular former CIA agent Robert Baer in Lebanon warned about the fate of Christians located in the region.

Today, Baer's warning has manifested itself in a genocidal campaign against Syria's Christians increasingly more difficult for the Western media to hide. This is confirmed by LA Times' "Church fears 'ethnic cleansing' of Christians in Homs, Syria," and more recently in USA Today's distorted, but still telling, "Christians in Syria live in uneasy alliance with Assad, Alawites."

Also mentioned was the Syrian chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood, who by 2007 was already receiving significant backing from the West and Israel to destabilize Syria - despite its feigned anti-Western, anti-Israeli rhetoric.

As clandestine military operations became larger in scale and more difficult for the complicit Western media to obfuscate, it was announced that hundreds of fighters as well as torrents of weapons and cash began flowing into Syria from NATO-armed terrorists in Libya. The Al Qaeda affiliated Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) (a US State Department listed terrorist organization - #28) led by Abdul Hakim Belhaj, spearheaded efforts to bolster what is essentially a foreign terrorist operation in Syria beginning as early as November 2011, according to the London Telegraph.

After Belhaj's visit to the Turkish-Syrian border and his pledge to send cash, weapons, and fighters, up to 600 Libyan terrorists were reported to have made the journey to Syria to join the fighting. At least one ship flush with weapons from Libya was interdicted by Lebanon on its way to rebels' hands in Syria.

In addition to LIFG terrorists admittedly entwined with the so-called "Free Syrian Army" (FSA), more recent reports indicate that Iraqi terrorists have also joined their ranks. Reuters in their article, "Outgunned Syria rebels make shift to bombs," admit that not only is the FSA conducting a terrorist bombing campaign against the people of Syria, but that it is facilitated by rebels who "fought with Al Qaeda elements in Iraq" and learned their bombing skills while attacking both sectarian Iraqi targets as well as Western troops.

Ironic indeed, that the US in particular is backing entirely terrorist forces that thousands of Americans have shed their blood allegedly fighting in the "War on Terror." It appears that Al Qaeda, admittedly a creation of the CIA in the 1980's to draw in and fight Soviets in Afghanistan, is still patronized by the West and used as both a convenient casus belli as well as a terrorist proxy force against enemies of Western foreign policy.

Turkey is Helping

According to the New York Times, "a small number of C.I.A. officers are operating secretly in southern Turkey, helping allies decide which Syrian opposition fighters across the border will receive arms to fight the Syrian government, according to American officials and Arab intelligence officers." While the Times article attempts but fails to allay fears that the FSA is in fact a terrorist front, the real significance of the article is that it confirms Turkey is serving as a willing conduit to harbor, arm, and deploy terrorist forces against neighboring Syria - a crime against world peace.

The Gulf States, which provided the bulk of the "hijackers" allegedly behind the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, are now the primary weapons and cash suppliers for the FSA, with Saudi Arabia leading the way - as Seymour Hersh reported they would be in 2007. These weapons, according to the UK Independent, are being transferred to terrorists via Turkey. It is also reported that the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood then distributes the weapons once they make their way into Syria - belying the narrative that the unrest is anything but an foreign-facilitated extremist terror campaign.

Perhaps most disturbing is a report published by Michael Weiss of the Neo-Con corporate-financier funded (beginning on page 18, .pdf) Henry Jackson Society, titled, "Syrian rebels say Turkey is arming and training them." In the report, Weiss claims that, "rebel sources in Hatay told me last night that not only is Turkey supplying light arms to select battalion commanders, it is also training Syrians in Istanbul. Men from the unit I was embedded with were vetted and called up by Turkish intelligence in the last few days and large consignments of AK-47s are being delivered by the Turkish military to the Syrian-Turkish border."

Weiss can hardly be considered a reliable source, and is just as likely fabricating his entire narrative for the purpose of psychologically targeting Syria. However, Turkey has made no attempts to refute such claims, made more frequently and by an increasing number of sources. Turkey is admittedly serving as a conduit for weapons, and is most likely participating in a more direct role to train, arm, fund, and support terrorists operating along the Turkish-Syrian border.

And despite all of this, the United Nations has remained mute over these transgressions, acts of war, and crimes against world peace. While it feigns outrage over the violence in Syria, it has failed categorically to identify the driving forces behind it - namely the unending torrent of weapons, cash, and foreign fighters flowing over Syria's borders - supplied by NATO and its Gulf State partners.

Turkey Plays Pivotal Role in Psychologically Breaking Syria

Turkey is clearly harboring a terrorist front within its borders and facilitating their violent-subversive actives within Syrian borders. While the US and NATO hypocritically use a similar narrative to justify cross-border raids into Pakistan, it is attempting to tie Syria's hands from even operating up to and along its own border to stem very real, admitted terrorist networks maintained by NATO and their Gulf State partners.

The goal of NATO is to create enough chaos in Syria, long enough, to shake the Syrian people's faith in their government and their armed forces by dividing and destroying Syria's national institutions. Just as in Libya, such divisions brought on by unwarranted panic will accelerate, not stem the violence. The stated goal by Western policy makers is to create divisions, doubt, and defections - and they are trying to achieve this through a combination of propaganda, economic sanctions, and overt Western-backed terrorism. They pursue this course of action because a full-scale military operation is untenable, as is the prospect of their terrorist proxies achieving any meaningful tactical victory. Syria, by remaining united and exhibiting perseverance will defeat NATO aggression.

Libya proves that capitulation is not an option, with sectarian genocide the result, subjecting capitulators, defectors, and even NATO's hand-picked proxies to post-Qaddafi violence and mayhem. There is no option but to continue resisting.

NATO Determined for War At Any Cost

Another Manufactured Pretext for War with Syria.

Eric Draitser
June 27, 2012

The downing of a Turkish jet by the Syrian military last week was not merely a military incident making the possibility of an intervention and regional war much more likely.  This episode was the most recent in a long and storied history of “international incidents” or provocations used by imperial powers as pretexts for military aggression.  Without such incidents, the forces of imperialism are seen as nothing more than aggressors, out to destroy weaker nations in their own interests.  However, with the necessary justifications that such episodes provide, those same powers can portray their wars as justified, necessary, and wholly righteous.

Image: US made F-4 Phantom painted in Turkish livery. While the Turks contend their aircraft was merely "training" or conducting benign "reconnaissance," Boeing's own website gives us insight on other possibilities the F-4 may have attempted to invade Syrian airspace for - namely probing air defenses for future campaigns to neutralize them ahead of a full-scale conflict.

This event last week was only the latest in a series of provocations specifically designed to justify a military intervention.  However, as the façade of the Houla “massacre”, the use of children as human shields, and the countless other lies propagated by the Western media have been debunked or otherwise exposed, the Western imperialist ruling class looks for a new incident to legitimize their plan for total war on Syria.

Just the Facts

On June 21st, a Turkish jet was shot down by Syrian military forces. Initially, the Western media rushed to portray this incident as a blatantly aggressive action by Assad and his military, hoping to play off their many months of propagandizing the public into believing Assad to be the devil incarnate.  Vigorous condemnations were heard from all corners of the Western ruling establishment, as the world seemed to move closer to another so-called intervention.  However, as the episode unfolded, the media had to backtrack and, as usual, reversed their initial story without a fraction of the fanfare that the initial lie had.  They had to admit publicly that, in fact, the Turkish jet had violated Syrian airspace and so, according to international law, Syria was well within their rights to shoot it down.  This fact gets lost in the narrative however, as the world looks to NATO, the military arm of US power projection around the world, to “act decisively”.

This episode is merely the latest attempt by the imperialist establishment to drum up support for some form of military intervention by portraying the Assad regime as bloodthirsty monsters.  Last month, we saw the world recoil in horror at the brutality of what came to be known as the Houla “massacre”.  However, as the United States, France, and the other Western powers attempted to spin the event as a brutal example of why they must wage war on Syria, the truth came out that, in fact, the victims of the massacre were not killed by government shelling, but by close range execution attributable to the NATO-sponsored death squads unleashed on the people of Syria.

Like the Houla massacre, the outrageous claim that the Syrian military was using children as human shields was designed to play on the emotions of the international community in hopes of eliciting a swift response and creating the a climate conducive to war.  Naturally, no evidence exists to back up this claim other than a dubious UN report based on so-called “activists” and “eyewitnesses”.  The Western propagandists are less interested in being able to support these claims than simply making them and implanting them into the public consciousness.

NATO Loses Plane Violating Syrian Airspace

NATO attempts to use own act of war to justify escalation - also, NATO-backed terrorists murder/kidnap journalists with absolute impunity - setting dangerous precedent.
by Tony Cartalucci

June 27, 2012 - Once again the Western press preys on the ignorance of the population as a whole, freely admitting that a Turkish jet entered Syrian airspace (later confirmed here) but was "a mile into international waters" by the time it was shot down.

Image: A Turkish F-4 - manufactured by the US and last used in major combat operations in Iraq to destroy air defenses, Syria had every right to fire on this aircraft as it entered Syrian airspace. Even if claims by Turkey are true that it had retreated to a "mile" over international waters when it was destroyed, that would mean it was over international waters for a mere 2 seconds. This means whatever ordnance Syria used was already fired and airborne in Syrian airspace before the aircraft departed.

The F-4 fighter jet, the newest of which are already around 30 years old, has a top speed of mach 2.2, or 1,600 mph/2,500 kph. That means in one minute it can travel 26 miles - or nearly one mile ever 2 seconds.

Any anti-aircraft weapon fired against Turkey's admittedly "off course" fighter aircraft would have certainly been fired while the aircraft was well within Syrian airspace with the fired ordnance airborne and on course to intercepting the aircraft before the aircraft traveled back over international waters. Turkey's claim of being "a mile" within international airspace may seem reasonable to the average reader accustomed to traveling at speeds where a mile is relatively far, but in terms of air combat, a mile equates into seconds.

Turkey, acutely aware of the immense tensions it itself has cultivated with neighboring Syria, exercised reckless abandon by traveling so closely to Syrian airspace. What readers may also be unaware of is the role US-built F-4's play in scouting out and neutralizing air defense systems. Designated "wild weasels," F-4's had been extensively used in the opening phases of war against Iraq in 1991, flying 2,596 sorties, firing more than 1,000 air-to-ground missiles, and destroying more than 200 targets in a campaign aimed at destroying Iraqi air defenses.

Perhaps hoping the average reader is profoundly ignorant to how speeds, trajectories, and weapons of modern warfare work, the press has attempted to portray the downing of the F-4 as a provocative act carried out entirely over international waters. In reality, Turkey's jet was fired upon in Syrian airspace, by its own account, as it was supposedly in "international space" for only one or two seconds before finally being struck. Syria claims the entire event took place over Syrian waters - a claim NATO has been unable to refute with anything more substantial than mere rhetoric.

Act of War

Turkey has been admittedly harboring, arming, and supporting terrorists within its borders to destabilize neighboring Syria, according to US policy makers. Turkey has also made multiple threats against Syria, threatening partial invasion and conducting blockades. When a Turkish fighter crossed into Syrian airspace, Syria had every right to believe it was merely the next stage of military escalation implemented by NATO through its member-state Turkey.

Compounding Turkey's provocative violation of Syria's airspace, at the loss of one of its fighters, it with NATO's explicit backing, is trying to escalate an already unjustified posture of war and aggression against Syria. The United Nations has been characteristically mute over these brazen violations of world peace as the West pursues openly a campaign to overthrow the government of Syria and replace it with a suitable proxy regime of its own preference.

Turkey has been fighting its own internal war against its population - one that has stretched from 1984 and has cost over 40,000 lives - dwarfing UN estimates based solely on activist hearsay. Turkey's campaign against its own Kurdish minority has involved rolling armored columns over them, strafing them from the air with warplanes, and even chasing them into Iraqi territory with partial invasions and bombing campaigns sanctioned by the then occupying US military.

Turkey - a NATO member since 1952 - is a serial violator of human rights within its own borders and a violator of the sovereignty of its regional neighbors. For it and its NATO collaborators to pose as the rational forces of stability in the region is a true spectacle of Orwellian absurdity.

Murdering/Kidnapping Journalists

Had Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces kidnapped and murdered journalists sympathetic to the West's narrative - relentless accusations of "crimes against humanity" and referrals to the West's myriad of "international institutions" and self-proclaimed international arbiters would have followed. However, the killers are instead NATO-backed terrorists, if not NATO operatives themselves, who have raided a TV station, murdered employees and kidnapped others in an attack celebrated rather than condemned by the Western press as "one of the boldest attacks yet on a symbol of the authoritarian state" (Reuters).

Despite the rhetoric emanating from the West in regard to Syria's "deterioration," the fact that statements released by both Russia and Syria are intentionally being distorted, as well as events on the ground themselves being endlessly misrepresented, indicates such rhetoric aims more at psychologically attacking the Syrian people, rather than actually encapsulating actual events as they unfold. Similar psychological ploys had been used against Libya to great effect where otherwise outgunned and disorganized fighters were handed victory by a demoralized and divided Libyan government.

In Syria, Unity & Perseverance is Key

Imperialism's favorite trick throughout time has been to purposefully mire a targeted nation in internal strife to weaken it before preying on, and ruling over both sides. This can be seen encapsulated in the following ancient Chinese stratagem:

When a country is beset by internal conflicts, when disease and famine ravage the population, when corruption and crime are rampant, then it will be unable to deal with an outside threat. This is the time to attack. -The 36 Strategies, #5 Loot a Burning House

While it would likewise suit Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's opponents, it is particularly important for those who have made the decision to stand by Syria's ruling government to stay the course of restoring order and pursuing political solutions. NATO is systematically destabilizing Syria, sowing the ground for an easy victory if and when more overt military intervention is attempted.

The West has gone too far, the credibility of its "institutions" and their operational capacity are waning by the day, it has no choice but to continue pushing forward in hopes that all before it lack the fortitude to stand up and fight. The West will not stop until either Syria is divided and destroyed or the West itself crumbles in the midst of its untenable imperial conquest. Defection, capitulation, and failure are not options. Libya has proven that surrendering to the will of the West ensures not stability and survival, but ensured perpetual violence, destabilization, and chaos. Syria's fate will be that of Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, or worse if it falls. Unity is Syria's only option.

US Struggles to Install Proxy "Brotherhood" in Egypt

From Egypt to Syria, the Muslim Brotherhood does the West's bidding - now joined by overt State Department fronts.
by Tony Cartalucci

العربية: الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية تسعى جاهدة لتمكين الاخوان من حكم مصر

June 23, 2012 - Were anyone to still believe the rhetoric of the so-called "Arab Spring," one would be admittedly confused over the emerging political landscape in Egypt where the military establishment and the Muslim Brotherhood have emerged from what was supposedly a "pro-democracy" "popular uprising."

However, if anyone understood that the "pro-democracy" protesters were in fact US State Department-funded, trained, and equipped mobs providing cover for the attempted installation of the Muslim Brotherhood amongst many other potential Western proxies, the current political battle would make perfect sense.

Image:  Mohammed Morsi (above) is the Muslim Brotherhood's current presidential candidate. As evidence continues to mount against the Brotherhood, implicating them as overt proxies of Western foreign policy, their credibility took another blow as the US State Department's April 6 Movement endorsed Morsi. Below, Egypt's youth are once again duped by Western propaganda and fellow Egyptians conspiring against their own nation and people.

The Egyptian military, like in many developing nations, may accept money from the West, may train with Western forces, and may even participate in Western machinations of global domination, but are ultimately nationalists with the means and motivation to draw lines and check the West's ambitions within Egypt and throughout Egypt's sphere of influence. The necessity for the West of removing not only Hosni Mubarak who had refused to participate in a wider role against Iraq and Iran, but the grip of the military itself over Egyptian politics and replacing it with the Muslim Brotherhood who is already hard at work in Syria attempting to overthrow one of Iran's primary regional allies, is paramount.

"Pro-democracy" movements, particularly the April 6 youth movement, trained, funded, and equipped by the US State Department, serve the sole purpose of giving the Muslim Brotherhood's installation into power a spin of "legitimacy" where otherwise none exists. Those within these "pro-democracy" movements with legitimate intentions will be inevitably disappointed if not entirely thrown under the wheels of Western machinations as regional war aimed at destroying Iran, Syria, and Lebanon's Hezbollah arch of influence slowly unfolds.

Muslim Brotherhood were, are, and will be Western Proxies

Despite the Brotherhood's lofty rhetoric, it has from its inception been a key proliferator of Western foreign policy. Currently, the Syrian arm of the Muslim Brotherhood has been involved heavily, leading in fact, the US, Israeli, Saudi, and Qatari-backed sectarian violence that has been ravaging Syria for over a year. In a May 6, 2012 Reuters article it stated:

"Working quietly, the Brotherhood has been financing Free Syrian Army defectors based in Turkey and channeling money and supplies to Syria, reviving their base among small Sunni farmers and middle class Syrians, opposition sources say."

While Reuters categorically fails to explain the "how" behind the Brotherhood's resurrection, it was revealed in a 2007 New Yorker article titled, "The Redirection" by Seymour Hersh, as being directly backed by the US and Israel who were funneling support through the Saudis so as to not compromise the "credibility" of the so-called "Islamic" movement. Hersh revealed that members of the Lebanese Saad Hariri clique, then led by Fouad Siniora, had been the go-between for US planners and the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood.

Hersh reports the Lebanese Hariri faction had met Dick Cheney in Washington and relayed personally the importance of using the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria in any move against the ruling government:

"[Walid] Jumblatt then told me that he had met with Vice-President Cheney in Washington last fall to discuss, among other issues, the possibility of undermining Assad. He and his colleagues advised Cheney that, if the United States does try to move against Syria, members of the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood would be “the ones to talk to,” Jumblatt said." -The Redirection, Seymour Hersh
The article would continue by explaining how already in 2007, US and Saudi backing had begun benefiting the Brotherhood:
"There is evidence that the Administration’s redirection strategy has already benefitted the Brotherhood. The Syrian National Salvation Front is a coalition of opposition groups whose principal members are a faction led by Abdul Halim Khaddam, a former Syrian Vice-President who defected in 2005, and the Brotherhood. A former high-ranking C.I.A. officer told me, “The Americans have provided both political and financial support. The Saudis are taking the lead with financial support, but there is American involvement.” He said that Khaddam, who now lives in Paris, was getting money from Saudi Arabia, with the knowledge of the White House. (In 2005, a delegation of the Front’s members met with officials from the National Security Council, according to press reports.) A former White House official told me that the Saudis had provided members of the Front with travel documents." -The Redirection, Seymour Hersh

It was warned that such backing would benefit the Brotherhood as a whole, not just in Syria, and could effect public opinion even as far as in Egypt where a long battle against the hardliners was fought in order to keep Egyptian governance secular. Clearly the Brotherhood did not spontaneously rise back to power in Syria, it was resurrected by US, Israeli, and Saudi cash, weapons and directives.

And most recently, as the West frequently does before elections it wishes to manipulate, premature claims by the Muslim Brotherhood of a victory during a presidential runoff were made headlines by the Western media in an effort to portray the Brotherhood as the victors and lay the groundwork for contesting any results other than a decisive win for the West's proxy of choice.

US State Department-run Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty's (RFE/RL) "Muslim Brotherhood Declares Victory In Egypt Election," amongst many other articles attempted to give readers the impression that the Muslim Brotherhood had indeed already won the election. In reality the official tallies had yet to be given and it was merely the Brotherhood's own rhetoric upon which the report was based. As election results were finalized, and the Brotherhood's candidate, the US-educated Muhammad Morsi, appeared not to have the decisive victory claimed by his party and the Western media, immediately accusations of voter fraud were leveled against the Egyptian government.

Ironically, Americans claim Maher and his "April 6" movement have inspired them to rise up against their corrupt government, unaware that his movement was insidiously created by the US government. Photo: courtesy Ahmed Maher, Spencer Ackerman

The West is already combining its various proxy fronts for what it sees as a pivotal showdown and perhaps another opportunity to overthrow any remaining nationalist tendencies within the Egyptian military.  Despite the Muslim Brotherhood, allegedly being a theocratic sectarian party, the antithesis of what the secular April 6 Movement allegedly stood for, Ahmed Maher, the movement's founder threw his full support behind the Brotherhood.

Maher it should be remembered, had been in the US, Serbia, and back again to the US for a series of training and networking opportunities arranged by the US State Department before during and after the so-called "Arab Spring." What seemed like politically ideological opposites, between April 6 and the Muslim Brotherhood, in fact share a common denominator - they are instruments executing Western foreign policy.

Libya, Egypt, Syria and Beyond to Form United Front Against Iran

Weakening Egypt before NATO's assault on Libya was a crucial step in ensuring the latter's absolute destruction and the creation of what is now a Libyan terror-emirate shipping cash, weapons, and fighters east and west to destabilize and overthrow various governments on the Anglo-American's long "to-do" list. The West's ability to install a Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt, with it's substantial regional standing and influence would be a serious blow not only to Syria, but to Iran as well. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is already echoing calls by the US and Israel for "intervention" in Syria.

Along with Libya, Egypt and of course the Gulf States of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and with the possibility of the Brotherhood coming to power in Syria as well, a united front against Iran would be formed and prepared to fight a proxy war on the West's behalf against the Islamic Republic.

Such a reordering has not only been mapped out in US foreign policy documents like Brookings Institution's "Which Path to Persia?" report, but mirror designs against China where all of Southeast Asia is slated for destabilization, regime change, and realignment to carry out the West's ambitions to contain and even collapse a rising China.

CONFIRMED: US CIA Arming Terrorists in Syria

As West berates Syria for "killing civilians" Western weapons flow into terrorist hands from NATO.
by Tony Cartalucci

June 22, 2012 - The New York Times in their article, "C.I.A. Said to Aid in Steering Arms to Syrian Opposition," confirms what many have already long known - that the West, led by the US and its Gulf State proxies, have been arming terrorists, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood, while berating the Syrian government for "violating" a UN mandated ceasefire and for "failing to protect" its population.

The Muslim Brotherhood has been combated by nations across the Arab World to stem the tide of their sectarian extremism, violence, and their targeted erosion of secular nation-states. Ironically, the US which has claimed to have been fighting the forces of sectarian extremism and "terrorism" for over a decade now, have been revealed as the primary enabler of the most violent and extreme terrorist organizations in the world. These include, in addition to the Muslim Brotherhood, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) in Libya, Baluch terrorists in Pakistan, and the Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK) currently based in Iraq and being used as proxies against Iran.

Video: Professor Michel Chossudovsky of Global Research gives perhaps the most comprehensive back-story on Syria's conflict to-date.

The New York Times claims that, "the C.I.A. officers have been in southern Turkey for several weeks, in part to help keep weapons out of the hands of fighters allied with Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups, one senior American official said," a unsubstantiated claim that was similarly made in Libya before Al Qaeda flags were run up poles in Benghazi by rebels flush with NATO cash and arms used to collapse the government of Muammar Qaddafi. In fact, it is confirmed that Libyan LIFG rebels, led by Al Qaeda commander Abdul Hakim Belhaj, have now made their way by the hundreds to Syria (and here).

Despite months of the US claiming the "international community" sought to end the violence and protect the population of Syria, the New York Times now admits that the US is engaged in supporting a "military campaign" against the Syrian government aimed at increasing "pressure" on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Efforts to impose an arms embargo on Syria is now revealed to be one-sided, aimed at giving rebels an advantage in the prolonged bloodbath with the intent on tipping the balance in favor of Western proxy-forces - not end the violence as soon as possible as claimed by the UN, and in particular, Kofi Annan.

The Times also reported that Turkey has been directly delivering weapons to terrorists operating in Syria - Turkey being a NATO member and implicating NATO as now being directly involved in perpetuating bloodshed in the Middle Eastern nation. For months, Turkey has been allowing terrorists to use its border region as a refuge from which to stage attacks against Syria.

Despite this, however, the so-called "Free Syrian Army," according to the New York Times, consists of only 100 or so small formations made up of  "a handful of fighters to a couple of hundred combatants," betraying the narrative that the Syrian government faces a large popular uprising, and revealing that the "Free Syrian Army" is in fact a small collection of mercenaries, foreign fighters, and sectarian extremists, armed, funded, and directed by foreign interests solely to wreak havoc within Syria. It should be noted that these terrorist proxies were organized as early as 2007 by the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, specifically to enact regime change and transform Syria into a Western client regime.

As the West's propaganda campaign imploded after a torrent of unsubstantiated claims of "massacres" and "atrocities," all unverified, some in fact being revealed as the work of the West's sectarian proxies themselves,  it appears that sidelining Syria in headlines while pursuing a clandestine proxy war is now the tactic of choice for the time being.

For the United States to claim Syria has "failed" to protect it population while simultaneously fueling the very armed conflict it claims it is seeking to end is not only hypocrisy of the highest order, but a crime against world peace - punishable under the Nuremberg precedent.

A New Front: Myanmar’s Role in the Geopolitics of Empire

Eric Draitser
June 21, 2012
Myanmar has been gripped by abhorrent ethnic violence in recent weeks – violence which has begun to cast doubt on the democratic future of the country.  The sectarian and religious bloodletting between the Buddhist Rakhine people and the Muslim minority known as the Rohingya, has led to an international outcry and a swift military response from the government. This sort of violence, something which is not entirely new in the region, threatens to tarnish the reforms made by the nation in the last twelve months.

However, with the eyes of the world focused on the Southeast Asian country, a much more significant and covert war is taking shape: a proxy war in which the United States and its allies use a variety of violent and non-violent means in their quest to block Chinese economic investment and development in Myanmar.  It is against this backdrop that the recent changes, ranging from the ascension of Aung San Suu Kyi to the current ethnic strife in Sittwe, must be understood.

Violent Conflict and Chinese Interests

The armed conflicts in Myanmar correspond directly to large-scale Chinese development projects throughout the country.  Essentially, long-standing ethnic and sectarian conflicts are being fomented by international forces which seek to destabilize the country, thereby loosening the grip of Chinese economic investment on the country.  This is not to say that the conflicts are entirely fabricated but, as in Syria, Libya, and countless other examples around the world, the issue is spun by corporate-controlled media to obscure the reality that the issue is being manipulated from behind the scenes by the forces of Western imperialism.
The violence that has erupted among the Rakhine and Rohingya groups has shocked the world.  However, seen from a more objective, less emotional perspective, the recent violence serves a vital geopolitical function for the United States.  The center of the recent violence has been the city of Sittwe, capital of the Rakhine State on the northwestern coast of the country.  This city is at the center of one of China’s most crucial international investments, the Sittwe port and pipeline project.  This project, a twin oil and gas pipeline which would traverse Myanmar to link China’s southwestern Yunnan province with the Indian Ocean would, consequently, provide the Chinese land-based access to energy imports from Africa and the Middle East.  Because of US naval dominance, not being completely reliant on commercial shipping is an integral aspect of the overall Chinese strategy.

The pipeline itself is not the only issue for the Chinese.  Sittwe is the site of the major Chinese-funded port which, aside from being the starting point of the pipeline, is a vital access point to Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent.  Imports such as minerals and other raw materials from Africa as well as oil from the Middle East would be shipped through this port (along with the Pakistani port of Gwadar) for sale on the Chinese market.  It is for this reason that Sittwe is of crucial significance to Chinese economic development.  Naturally, as Sittwe and the rest of the Rakhine state descends into chaos and the international community clamors for some form of intervention, the port, pipeline and other projects cannot continue as planned.
Sittwe and the Rakhine region are not the only flashpoint in this proxy war against Chinese economic development.  The Kachin province in northern Myanmar has seen its own share of violent conflict.  The Kachin rebels, fighting the central government, have only recently stepped up their guerilla war against the government.  This increased violence is understood to be a serious threat to the stability of the region and, consequently, the viability and security of the Chinese pipeline which must travel through Kachin before terminating in Southwest China. In fact, the Chinese are reportedly paying Burmese soldiers in the North to provide additional security for the project in light of the recent violence.  This fact indicates not only the strategic necessity of the project for the Chinese but also their understanding that the violence in the region is aimed as much at them as it is at the government of Myanmar.

Image: The Myitsone Dam, on its way to being the 15th largest in the world until construction was halted in September by a campaign led by Wall Street-proxy Aung San Suu Kyi, a stable of US-funded NGOs, and a terrorist campaign executed by armed groups operating in Kachin State, Myanmar.

Aside from the pipeline, the Chinese are heavily invested in a number of hydroelectric dam projects, none bigger or more economically significant than the Myitsone Dam Project, a large scale investment estimated at upwards of $4 billion.  The dam, which would provide power primarily for Southwest China but also for Myanmar to a lesser extent, is part of a development plan by the Chinese to address the vital issue of energy generation, particularly for interior China.  However, due to the violence in the region as well as environmental concerns raised by local residents (as well as the possibility of Western arm-twisting), the project was recently put on hold.  Naturally, this is a source of tremendous irritation for Beijing, which sees this as yet another example of Western meddling in the affairs of Chinese economic development.
The armed conflicts throughout the country have made the investment climate in Myanmar very difficult for the Chinese.  In spite of this however, the Chinese are still determined to reassert their influence.  They remain close allies of the government which, despite recent overtures to the United States and the West more generally, still remains somewhat skeptical of the motivations of Washington.

Western “Soft Power” to Block the Chinese
One might ask how the United States actually fits into these various conflicts in Myanmar.  It is true that there are no “boots on the ground” as far as anyone knows, nor is Washington directly intervening in the country. Instead, as with so many other strategically crucial regions of the world, the US employs soft power to achieve its strategic aims.  One prime example of this sort of power-projection comes in the form of NGOs operating inside Myanmar with funding from the US government.  Additionally, we see India, and other nations traditionally at odds with China, being used as a wedge to pry Myanmar out of the Chinese sphere of influence.  However, there is no better example of the use of soft power in Myanmar than the rise of Aung San Suu Kyi to international superstardom.

Image: Suu Kyi (right) has spent a lifetime championing Western-style "governance" and has been the most vocal voice within Myanmar praising, not condemning crippling sanctions that have left Myanmar and its people in abject poverty for decades.

It would not be fair to argue that Aung San Suu Kyi and the pro-democracy movement in Myanmar is entirely a tool of the West.  It certainly has merits and has evolved out of a genuine desire of much of the population to see democratic reforms and the liberalization of their country.  However, it would be intellectually dishonest not to point out the obvious connections between the policies of the US State Department, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the pro-democracy movement embodied by the Nobel Prize winner and darling of the West, Suu Kyi.

For more than a decade, the National Endowment for Democracy has been active inside the country, ostensibly supporting the pro-democracy movement.  However, considering the fact that that the NED and its various subsidiary organizations are directly funded by the US State Department, it is logical, and indeed correct, to conclude that the groups receiving their funding and support are aligned with US interests.  In fact, we’ve seen this as recently as this week, when Suu Kyi made her public remarks warning against investment with Chinese firms while supporting dealing with Western oil companies such as Chevron and Total.  This is a prime example of the way in which Suu Kyi and her supporters represent the interests of the United States as much as they represent those of the people of Myanmar.

Beyond just Suu Kyi and her political influence in the country, the National Endowment for Democracy has a strong grassroots presence in the country, helping to shape discourse by funding dozens of “educational institutions”; naturally these institutions are amenable to US interests in the country.  Additionally, the NED uses innocuous phrases such as “freedom of Information”, “transparency”, and “NGO strengthening” to describe the multitude of activities in which it is engaged.  Here, it should be noted that I am not arguing that all of these initiatives are bad.  On the contrary, some of them empower local people in various fields or help raise important issues.  However, the overall scope of the engagement illustrates not just an interest in the future of Myanmar, but an active participation in shaping the next generation of leaders who will look away from China and towards Washington.

It is important to note that the NED has been active in the Rakhine region for years, working precisely with the Rohingya population now embroiled in this violent conflict.  In fact, in a 2006 report funded by the NED, we see clearly the way in which the United States uses the cover of human rights and the rights of children to undermine and otherwise subvert the government.  This should not be taken as suggesting that this ethnic minority is irrelevant or that their struggle is without some merit.  Rather, it is simply to point out the way in which the US, under the auspices of human rights and children, is able to entrench itself inside the country and its institutions.

As Myanmar undergoes the transition to a more open, democratic society, so too does it open itself to the dangers and fruits of international engagement.  While the country has the opportunity to enrich itself and bring economic and social benefits to the people, it also runs the risk of allowing itself to be part of the global strategy of the United States to contain China and prevent its economic expansion.  As its geographical location indicates, Myanmar finds itself at the center of a geopolitical and economic proxy war.  As the imperialist ruling class of the West desperately clings to power in hopes of extending their hegemony for another century, so too does China seek to gain the status of superpower on the world stage.  For Myanmar, this could be an economic boon: the chance for wealth and prosperity for a people who have suffered under the yoke of imperialist domination for the last three centuries.  However, equally important, will be the decisions made in the next few years which will have serious implications for Myanmar’s present and its future.

US Attempting to Trigger Full Proxy War in Syria

Torrent of propaganda, foreign arms, and political sabotage seek to fulfill broader plans for destabilization.
by Tony Cartalucci

June 17, 2012 - Over the last week, the US has been outright caught lying - admittedly by Pentagon officials, regarding Russian gunships being shipped to Syria. In New York Times' "Copters in Syria May Not Be New, U.S. Officials Say," a senior defense department official admitted when US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made her fraudulent claim regarding Russian weapon shipments, she "put a little spin on it to put the Russians in a difficult position."

The New York Times continued by stating, "Mrs. Clinton’s claim about the helicopters, administration officials said, is part of a calculated effort to raise the pressure on Russia to abandon President Bashar al-Assad, its main ally in the Middle East," indicative of the campaign of propaganda and lies orchestrated by the US State Department, the British Foreign Office, and Western and Gulf State news outlets around the world to demonize both the Syrian government and its extensive allies around the world, contrary to the facts on the ground.

Also adding to the torrent of propaganda was Human Rights Watch (HRW) and US State Department-run Amnesty International, both of which are funded by convicted criminal, Wall Street speculator George Soros, which attempted to level charges of "abuses" by Syrian forces, as always based solely on the "witness accounts" of admitted members of the opposition. The United Nations as well attempted to frame Syrian forces for using "children" as human shields. Despite having 300 monitors on the ground in Syria, again, the report was compiled solely using opposition "witness accounts,"  reminiscent of a late 2011 UN human rights report also compiled from opposition hearsay, in Geneva - not even Syria - and compiled by Karen Koning AbuZayd.

AbuZayd is concurrently a member of the Washington D.C. based Middle East Policy Council, along side current and former associates of Exxon, the US military, the CIA, the Saudi Binladin Group, the US-Qatari Business Council and both former and current members of the US government - illustrating an immense conflict of interests and devaluing the UN's credibility to unprecedented lows.

However, as evidence continues to point the finger at opposition sectarian extremists for the massacre at Houla, Syria, and at NATO-armed foreign fighters filtering into Syria to repeat atrocities now fully documented in Libya, organizations like Amnesty, HRW, and even the UN itself are increasingly losing credibility to convince all but the weakest of minds.

Despite this, the West continues to seek ways of arming sectarian extremists operating in Syria under the banner of the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA), with the Washington Post confirming in their article, "Syrian rebels get influx of arms with gulf neighbors’ money, U.S. coordination," that weapons, cash, and logistical support is indeed being provided to terrorist forces in Syria by the United States, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other Gulf States even as the West berated the Syrian government for "violating" the terms of a ceasefire allegedly being brokered by Kofi Annan. The West is doing in reality what they admittedly are lying about Russia doing for the sake of "raising pressure," with Russia in turn leveling much more credible accusations against the US for arming sectarian extremists in Syria.

The Western press is now intent on portraying the violence in Syria as a "civil war," despite the fact that the vast majority of weapons, cash, and fighters constituting the "Syrian opposition" are actually foreign. This includes hundreds of sectarian extremists who have invaded from Libya (and here) and Lebanon as planned since 2007 as described in Seymour Hersh's "The Redirection" in the New Yorker.

Russia, Iran, Syria, China, and the ALBA nations of South America are attempting to promote the actual fulfillment of the Kofi Annan peace plan, seemingly sabotaged by the West from the very beginning. It appears that the West merely used the ceasefire as a means to demonize the Syrian government while regrouping, rearming, and redeploying their proxy forces throughout the region.

What follows next depends entirely on the resolve of the Syrian people to resist what is essentially a foreign proxy invasion - not a civil war. This will be affected greatly by the support Syria gets from a world increasingly aware of the "international community" led by Wall Street and London plotting Syria's fall that would be but another step toward the inevitable destabilization and collapse of each remaining sovereign nation-state. The tools left for the West to utilize is propaganda and terror, both of which should be expected to be used with increasing frequency, even if by doing so it diminishes its overall effectiveness.

There is no turning back for the West, it has created a global cascade of destabilization, revealed its hand that it is aiming not only to overrun all of the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia, but eventually Moscow and Beijing as well.

URGENT: Expose NATO Dirty Tricks in Syria BEFORE They Happen

NATO preparing vast disinformation campaign.

Thierry Meyssan
June 12, 2012

In a few days, perhaps as early as Friday, June 15, at noon, the Syrians wanting to watch their national TV stations will see them replaced on their screens by TV programs created by the CIA. Studio-shot images will show massacres that are blamed on the Syrian Government, people demonstrating, ministers and generals resigning from their posts, President Al-Assad fleeing, the rebels gathering in the big city centers, and a new government installing itself in the presidential palace.

This operation of disinformation, directly managed from Washington by Ben Rhodes, the US deputy national security adviser for strategic communication, aims at demoralizing the Syrians in order to pave the way for a coup d’etat. NATO, discontent about the double veto of Russia and China, will thus succeed in conquering Syria without attacking the country illegally. Whichever judgment you might have formed on the actual events in Syria, a coup d’etat will end all hopes of democratization.

The Arab League has officially asked the satellite operators Arabsat and Nilesat to stop broadcasting Syrian media, either public or private (Syria TV, Al-Ekbariya, Ad-Dounia, Cham TV, etc.) A precedent already exists because the Arab League had managed to censure Libyan TV in order to keep the leaders of the Jamahiriya from communicating with their people. There is no Hertz network in Syria, where TV works exclusively with satellites. The cut, however, will not leave the screens black.

Actually, this public decision is only the tip of the iceberg. According to our information several international meetings were organized during the past week to coordinate the disinformation campaign. The first two were technical meetings, held in Doha (Qatar); the third was a political meeting and took place in Riyad (Saudi Arabia).
The first meeting assembled PSYOP officers, embedded in the satellite TV channels of Al-Arabiya, Al-Jazeera, BBC, CNN, Fox, France 24, Future TV and MTV. It is known that since 1998, the officers of the US Army Psychological Operations Unit (PSYOP) have been incorporated in CNN. Since then this practice has been extended by NATO to other strategic media as well.

They fabricated false information in advance, on the basis of a “story-telling” script devised by Ben Rhodes’s team at the White House. A procedure of reciprocal validation was installed, with each media quoting the lies of the other media to render them plausible for TV spectators. The participants also decided not only to requisition the TV channels of the CIA for Syria and Lebanon (Barada, Future TV, MTV, Orient News, Syria Chaab, Syria Alghad) but also about 40 religious Wahhabi TV channels to call for confessional massacres to the cry of “Christians to Beyrouth, Alawites into the grave!.”

The second meeting was held for engineers and technicians to fabricate fictitious images, mixing one part in an outdoor studio, the other part with computer generated images. During the past weeks, studios in Saudi Arabia have been set up to build replicas of the two presidential palaces in Syria and the main squares of Damascus, Aleppo and Homs. Studios of this type already exist in Doha (Qatar), but they are not sufficient.
The third meeting was held by General James B. Smith, the US ambassador, a representative of the UK, prince Bandar Bin Sultan (whom former U.S. president George Bush named his adopted son so that the U.S. press called him “Bandar Bush”). In this meeting the media actions were coordinated with those of the Free "Syrian" Army, in which prince Bandar’s mercenaries play a decisive role.

The operation had been in the making for several months, but the U.S. National Security Council decided to accelerate the action after the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, notified the White House that he would oppose by all means, even by force, any illegal NATO military intervention in Syria.
The operation has a double intent: the first is to spread false information, the second aims at censuring all possible responses.

The hampering of TV satellites for military purposes is not new. Under pressure from Israel, the USA and the EU blocked Lebanese, Palestinian, Iraqi, Libyan and Iranian TV channels, one after the other. However, no satellite channels from other parts of the world were censured.
The broadcast of false news is also not new, but four significant steps have been taken in the art of propaganda during the last decade.

• In 1994, a pop music station named “Free Radio of the Thousand Hills” (RTML) gave the signal for genocide in Rwanda with the cry, “Kill the cockroaches!
• In 2001, NATO used the media to impose an interpretation of the 9/11 attacks and to justify its own aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. At that time already, it was Ben Rhodes who had been commissioned by the Bush administration to concoct the Kean/Hamilton Commission report on the attacks.
• In 2002, the CIA used five TV channels (Televen, Globovision, ValeTV and CMT) to make the public in Venezuela believe that phantom demonstrators had captured the elected president, Hugo Chávez, forcing him to resign. In reality he was the victim of a military coup d’etat.
• In 2011, France 24 served as information ministry for the Libyan CNT, according to a signed contract. During the battle of Tripoli, NATO produced fake studio films, then transmitted them via Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, showing phantom images of Libyan rebels on the central square of the capital city, while in reality they were still far away. As a consequence, the inhabitants of Tripoli were persuaded that the war was lost and gave up all resistance.

Nowadays the media do not only support a war, they produce it themselves.

This procedure violates the principles of International Law, first of all Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights relating to the fact of receiving and imparting information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” Above all, the procedure violates the United Nations General Assembly resolution, adopted after the end of World War II, to prevent further wars. Resolutions 110, 381 and 819 forbid “to set obstacles to free exchange of information and ideas” (like cutting off Syrian TV channels) and “all propaganda provoking or encouraging threats to peace, breaking peace, and all acts of aggression”. By law, war propaganda is a crime against peace, the worst of crimes, because it facilitates war crimes and genocide.

Searching for Solutions in Syria

Nile Bowie
June 11, 2012

For sixteen months, the people of Syria have undergone economic hardship, tremendous human suffering and the unparalleled horrors of war. As the Syrian opposition officially abandons the ceasefire and calls for foreign intervention and the imposition of a no-fly zone [1], US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has announced a new transition plan that would topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, signaling the increasing possibility of intervention outside the mandate of the United Nations [2]. Following clashes between militant rebel groups and government forces that claimed the lives of 80 Syrian troops [3], rebels in Aleppo have reportedly taken 11 hostages and vowed to release them only when a new state is established [4]. While Bashar al-Assad attributes the perpetuation of Syria’s crisis to outside forces [5], Iran has expressed its readiness to mount an armed resistance against foreign military forces in Syria [6]. Regardless of who perpetrated the recent killings in Qubayr and Houla, the profoundly disturbing images of lifeless children begs the question, has the Syrian crisis reached a point of incorrigibility?
Western media has largely relied on unconfirmed opposition accounts crediting the Shabiha, pro-government Alawite militias with carrying out massacres across Syria as a result of the Assad government “brainwashing the militia into believing the Sunni majority was their enemy,” as reported by The Telegraph [7]. Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has recently reported that anti-Assad Sunni militants carried out the massacre in Houla, targeting pro-government Alawi and Shia minorities, “Those killed were almost exclusively from families belonging to Houla’s Alawi and Shia minorities. Over 90% of Houla’s population is Sunni. Several dozen members of a family were slaughtered, which had converted from Sunni to Shia Islam. Members of the Shomaliya, an Alawi family, were also killed, as was the family of a Sunni member of the Syrian parliament who is regarded as a collaborator. Immediately following the massacre, the perpetrators are supposed to have filmed their victims and then presented them as Sunni victims in videos posted on the internet” [8].
Human Rights Watch has also released a report entitled “Syria: Armed Opposition Groups Committing Abuses,” documenting the outstanding cases of violence exercised by the Syrian opposition, who have been accused of kidnapping, detaining, torturing and executing of members of the Syrian military and civilian government supporters [9]. HRW reports that attacks by opposition groups are conducted largely on sectarian grounds, motivated by anti-Shia and anti-Alawite sentiments, citing abuses committed by militant Salafist groups and members of the opposition Free Syrian Army. Although UN observers admit they are unable to determine the perpetrators of the recent massacre in Qubayr with no firm evidence to inculpate the Syrian government, UN chief Ban Ki-moon has declared that the Assad government has lost its legitimacy [10], channeling calls by President Barak Obama, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and British Prime Minister David Cameron for Assad to step down [11].

WARNING: Possible NATO-FSA False Flag Attack in Syria

Unconfirmed reports warn of possible plot to deploy chemical weapons, then blame Syrian government.
by Tony Cartalucci

June 10, 2012 - RT has warned of a possible plot being fomented by Syrian rebels inside NATO member Turkey. The plot involves Syrian rebels deploying chemical weapons obtained in Libya against Syrian civilians, then blaming the Syrian government for the mass casualty event. This of course would provide the West the "casus belli" it has been searching for to circumvent the UN Security Council and implement its long-planned campaign of regime change.

The Means

Libya's arsenal had fallen into the hands of sectarian extremists with NATO assistance last year in the culmination of efforts to overthrow the government there. Since then, Libya's militants led by commanders of Al Qaeda's Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) have armed sectarian extremists across the Arab World, from as far West as Mali, to as far East as Syria.

Image: The symbols for nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. The West is the undisputed champion of deploying each of these weapons of mass destruction against their enemies - from nuclear bombs upon Japan, to depleted uranium and white phosphorus upon Iraq, to Agent Orange all across Vietnam - it stands to reason that these weapons would eventually end up in the hands of the their proxies as well.

Libyan LIFG commander Abdul Hakim Belhaj, according to the London Telegraph, had in fact traveled to the Turkish-Syrian border to consort with the so-called "Free Syrian Army" (FSA), pledging weapons, cash, and even fighters. Since then, at least one ship flush with Libyan weaponry bound for Syrian militants has been interdicted by Lebanon, while the Western press, including the Sydney Morning Herald, has reported on a massive influx of foreign fighters and arms. In addition to Libyan weapons, the Washington Post has also confirmed the US and Gulf States have been arranging the delivery of weapons to Syrian militants.

Additionally, as a result of NATO's intervention in Libya, the scattered military's extensive arsenal of anti-aircraft missiles has also fallen into the hands of Libyan militants, to then be proliferated throughout LIFG's network of affiliates - all of which are sectarian extremists, many with direct ties to Al Qaeda. The Washington Post in their article, "Libyan missiles on the loose," reported:

"Two former CIA counterterrorism officers told me last week that technicians recently refurbished 800 of these man-portable air-defense systems (known as MANPADS) — some for an African jihadist group called Boko Haram that is often seen as an ally of al-Qaeda — for possible use against commercial jets flying into Niger, Chad and perhaps Nigeria."
Clearly, NATO's proxies in Libya have become a regional arsenal for similar sectarian extremists - all demonstrably working in concert with Western designs to overthrow both nationalist governments in North Africa, and installing client regions throughout the Middle East to then array against Iran and by extension, Russia's sphere of influence throughout the region. If Libya possessed deployable chemical weapons, it seems very likely that they would find their way to LIFG's affiliates and their foreign legionaries along with the rest of their exported terror.

The Motivation and Intent

There is certainly room for plausible concern regarding all types of Libyan weapons falling into the hands of the Free Syrian Army. They have been publicly pledged by LIFG commander Belhaj, and they have been interdicted en-route by neighboring Lebanon. Does evidence also suggest that indiscriminate mass-casualty attacks could be carried out by the FSA and then blamed on the Syrian government, should they be "gifted" with Libya's chemical weapons?

In Reuters' April 2012 article, "Outgunned Syria rebels make shift to bombs," it is admitted that Syrian rebels have openly begun carrying out a terrorist bombing campaign, including operating large bomb-making facilities, not unlike the one in Hama which exploded during a mishap, killing over 70 people, and leveling a city block. Very tellingly, the opposition, fully responsible for the catastrophic loss of life, immediately blamed it on the Syrian government, claiming the wide scale destruction was caused by a Scud missile attack.
Photo: From Hama, Syria, a city block lies in ruins after a rebel bomb factory mishap caused a massive explosion. At least 70 have been reported killed. In initial attempts to spin and cover up rebel involvement, BBC actually ran with an opposition explanation suggesting the Syrian government fired "SCUD missiles" at Hama. It is now revealed that the rebels are indeed operating bomb factories across Syria and indeed carrying out a terrorist bombing campaign.

The FSA bombing campaign itself has also killed and maimed hundreds of Syrians, mostly civilians - and astonishingly despite openly admitting to producing and deploying bombs, rebels have then denied responsibility for the subsequent explosions and inevitable civilian death tolls, blaming it instead on the Syrian government.

RT's report also made the point of reminding readers of a recent attempt by rebels to have a UK Channel 4 news team killed by government troops for propaganda purposes, while German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) has come forward with evidence (Google English translation here) implicating rebels as having staged the now infamous "Houla Massacre," themselves - again for propaganda purposes.

For an opposition so transparently dishonest, and already caught attempting to frame the government for mass-casualty events and atrocities of their own doing, we see what is very clearly a militant movement capable of also deploying weapons of mass destruction more than within their means of obtaining, with the insidious motivations to use them against civilian populations as they have their indiscriminate bombings, and the audacity to then blame it on the Syrian government.

The Warning

While RT's report remains unconfirmed, it is at the very least very plausible. By airing the story, RT may be preempting malicious interests contemplating such a ploy - realizing that the public is now fully inoculated to this propaganda and that it would only backfire on both the already faltering FSA, and their increasingly discredited Western sponsors.

Editor's Note: The point of this article is to NOT be right about this. By raising awareness of possible gambits throughout the public, their effectiveness as a tool of propaganda is greatly diminished, and therefore lowers the probability that they will be considered, let alone carried out.
